What makes a Layflat book different from a Photobook?

You can pick a Layflat book in any of our Photobook sizes. Here are some key differences compared to our perfect bind books :

  • Layflat books can open totally flat without damaging the binding. This makes them ideal for page spreads (where an image prints across two facing pages).

  • Layflat books can have 20-150 pages. Perfect-bind Photobooks can have 40-80 or 40-300, depending on the book type.

  • Layflat pages are glued back to back, so each page is ultra-thick.

  • Layflat books use one continuous sheet of paper for each page spread (e.g. pages 2 and 3 are a single sheet of paper) folded down the center and glued to the next spread, instead of individual pages glued into the binding. This makes Layflat ideal for showcasing photos that run across two facing pages.

  • Our Layflat books do not have an end sheet. They have a white piece of paper on the inside front cover and the inside back cover. This sheet cannot be upgraded to another color and cannot be designed on.
